The Heaviest Element Known to Science

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.

The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of morons promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalysed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

So Far Away

I have drifted so far away from the normal proceduresof growing old......... or young! I have seen things thatI cannot forgive....... things that I will take to my grave!

I don`t remember the America that our parents sacrificedand paid a very dear price to give to us. It is long gone!Completely meaningless! So far away! So far away! Butnot that long, ago! What happened? How did things getso far away?

If my Father could see how my Mom died and what happenedto the rest of his family because of a forced guardianship,he would puke in his grave! And so would you! The lifeand money they stole! I just wish I could be as strong as he was. "No, they didn`t beat me, Dad, they beat us all!"

And it continues, today! Everyday of the week an elderlyperson is forced into a guardianship for their "protection!"But here is the bottom line,........ only if they have some money!And you know the rest of the story! Trusts, inheritances, willsare dissolved. Everything this person owns is liquidated! Andas the courts will tell you, it is done to "care" for this elderly person! But that is not, even, close to being true! It is done to make iteasier for the lawyers, guardians, courts, county agencies, etc.,to rip off entire estates from the elderly and it has been going onfor many years in this country! It has to stop!

This country makes me sick to my stomach!

A crabby old woman, not very wise, uncertain of habit, with faraway eyes.
Who dribbles her food and makes no reply when you say in a loud voice, "I do wish you'd try?"

Who seems not to notice the things that you do, and forever is losing a stocking or shoe.

Who, resisting or not, lets you do as you will with bathing and feeding, the long day to fill.
Is that what you're thinking? Is that what you see?

Then open your eyes, nurse; you're not looking at me.

That's a prose poem by a dying woman and I've taken liberties in compressing the words of a final victim of domestic violence -- repetitive, relentless, domestic violence, a war between the sexes. We're aware of its presence, going on behind those walls we walk by, drive by every day. Maybe we're tired of hearing about it, bored by it because of its propinquity (nearness). Behind expensive walls but mostly behind dirty, littered walls. It's as old as Genesis but as current as the next 15 minutes, a strong body beating on a weaker body with fists, furniture, whatever's handy. The reasons are multiple, no single pattern. A man (most often) with the self control of a child. In his mindless fury taking his revenge on adults like those others who may have abused him when he was weak, helpless and tiny.

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head, and said, ?Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it.?

The farmer?s wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was

a venomous snake whose tail had caught the trap.

The snake bit the farmer?s wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital, and she returned home with a fever.

Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup?s main ingredient: chicken.

But his wife?s sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. to feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer?s wife did not get well; she died. Many people came to her funeral to share the farmer?s pain. To provide enough food for all of the mourners, the farmer slaughtered the cow.

The mouse looked out on it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness. All of his barnyard friends were gone, and he was all alone.

He sniffled and choked back tears, thinking, ?I tried so hard to warn them, and they wouldn?t listen.?

Perhaps next time you hear someone is facing a problem And, you think it doesn?t concern you, you?ll remember:

But I didn`t leave America, America left me! I guess, at times, I would brag that I fought for this country. And no one ever said "thanks." No one! Do you know what it is like to come home from a war and have people treat you like you did something wrong? Like you just got out of prison?

In the Nam for less than a week and I realized that everyone lied to us! Nixon, the Joint Chiefs, Hague, Westmoreland...... OK, I buried that! Gone, except in my memories! (God, I hope I develop Alzheimer`s)

But, man, Mom! Mom! What is this Guardianship Crap Like Viet Nam...... Iraq....it is a lie! A frigging lie! But this lie didn`t destroy foreign villages, women and children! This lie destroyed my Mother and what was left of my family! I forgave for Viet Nam but I will never forgive this! Ever!

The North Vietnamese never stole from me. They never raped my mother! They never made her cry! They never did anything to my family........ but the American government did all of the above!

Happy Father's Day Dad

I think that our time together was too short, If I only could I would do so many things with you How you loved to fish and I didn't like to go fishing with you because it seemed too much like work, but we sure liked the fish fries when you got back.

We woke up every Saturday morning to the sounds of you playing the violin, and at times we thought you were selfish, but you knew right from wrong and there was no compromising for you , ever.

You gave the best years of your life to public service and to your country, but I will never forget when you made the impassioned plea in the parking lot of the Sheriff Dept because you wanted to see your wife of 58 years more than you wanted anything in life and how Sheriff just shrugged his shoulders.

I can still feel your pain after your hunger strike , you just wanted to die if you could not see your wife , so we drove you the 10 hours to Winter Haven, Florida .

I remember the twinkle in your eye , thinking you would see Clara again and look into her eyes one more time only to have the Winter Haven Police Dept say that Mr. Willam Hart and Adalberto Fernandez had said that you were not welcomed in Winter Haven and that you better leave town, how you passed out in the back seat .

Dad , after giving so much , how you died of a broken heart.

But then again you never said life was fair!

Love you Dad , you will always be my hero !

Sir William Johnstone and Lady Catherine Melville were the maternal grandfather of ZEPHANIAH KINGSLEY.

About 1285, Sir John De Johnstone bestowed on the monastery of Solbray "The Manor if not the Advowson" of the church of the church of Johnstone and corfirmed his father Hugo De Johnst ,"OUNCE GIFT OF LANDS IN HADDINGTON, "

Isabella Johstone,married Zephaniah Kingsley, an Englishman from Westmoreland, in Scotland. The Kingsly's first six children were born in England and Scotland. Zephaniah the subject of this research was born in Scotland on December 4, 1765

In 1773, The Kingsly with their 8 years old son,Zephaniah, settled in Charleston,South Carolina.

The Kingsly prospered in South Carolina a prosperous ,sophisticated cosmopolitan city with an active port.

On November 21,1774, the ship Brittania under Captain Samuel Ball arrived at Charleston from London having on board seven cases of tea, subject to tax. Three of these were consigned to Kingsly, There was a period of great turmoil in Charleston and eventually Zephanias Kingsly worked his way to Florida.

During a voyage to Africa as a navigator , Zephanias lost his wife and on a subsequent trip to Africa he married Anna Maadgigene Jai, an African woman.Later commentators described her as an "African Princess."

Zephanias settled in San Agustine on November 26,1803 paying 5,300 dollars for a property of 2,600 acres called Laurel Grove.

He brought with him 50 Africans and started trading with the Indians.Meanwhile Zephanias had transformed his property by the San Juan River that was called Fort George.

Zephanias built an enclave and begun buying slaves which he would observe to determine what inclinations and especial abilities they possessed . He would then teach them highly skilled trades and teach them to speak languages, so successfully was this experiment that "Kingsly Niggers." as they were called were highly coveted in all the south of the Unites States and brought up to ten times the price of a normal slave in the open market.

The first slaves were introduced to Florida by Ponce De Leon, however Zephanias did not differentiate between the races and treated his slaves like family, even insisting when he traded them off that they would be able to buy their freedom after a certain time.

IN 1804 Florida had a population of 4,445 out which 2,300 were African slaves.In 1821 Florida came to be American Territory, by then Kingsly's wife and their children were in control of several plantations that he deeded over to his family.However the American authorities had problems with the administration of the plantations, new laws blocked people of color from owning property and things begun to get more difficult until they ran Zephanias off and confiscated his properties.

Fonchi Lockward a Newspaper columnist writes: Some titles to land that belonged to Zephanias were not recognized by the Uites States Government when they took over Florida, but even then it is recognized that his holdings included 915 acres by Rio San Juan,2,300 acres in Twelve Miles Swamp,2,000 acres in Drayton Island,1,500 acres to the south of River Santa Maria,300 acres in Saw Mill creek,150 acres in Saint John Bluff..

Historian Jose Augusto Puig notes that Kingley immigration took place between 1837 and 1840 , taking with him 53 people which settled in Puerto Plata,Cabarete ,Sosua. Kingsly entourage consisted of three wives,eight (8) children a number of servants and 42 slaves.

In1842 he would write" My colony in Cabarete is doing well, you should see how happy the human race can be in a beautiful place living in harmony ,it is a beautiful place, about 30 miles from Puerto Plata, the land is very fertile we have built windmills, roads I can't wait to build a school there"

Kingsly now used his established ship transport routes to ship oranges and built a prosperous business there in orange groves, in time he became owner of most of Puerto PLata and surrounding lands.

"After his death his heirs continued to live in his properties in Florida and Puerto Plata as a sort of guests, even today is not easy to obtain property rights for his heirs in the tribunals, the property rights that were denied his heirs.

"Maybe nobody will ever try and maybe even if they try they will not succeed, but maybe one day preferably on the North Coast, someone would recover a piece of land in honor of the memory of that indomitable man, lover of freedom and equality of the races that was called Zephanias Kingsly."

A lot of you have been by the cemetery on Higgs Beach and have heard about the Africans buried there.

Some said they died and were buried there in the name of historical truth these people were murdered, when you shackle someone hands and feet without food or medicine for months, they just don't happen to die, they are murdered for financial gain .

Now that we got that out of the way we'll get on with the rest of the story.

The life story of Zephaniah Kingsley (1765-1843), alleged smuggler, trainer and trader of slaves, more certainly Florida planter and man of affairs.

One popular anecdote about Kingsley, often repeated and published at least twice, tells of the capture by a Coast Guard gunboat* of 350 Africans whom, so the story goes, Kingsley was attempting to land illegally the government after confiscating the human cargo could find no one capable of taking care of the Africans except Kingsley himself.

Consequently, they were put in his custody and he promptly employed them in making "Gunnison's Cut,"* which the story, describes as a new channel approach to Fort George Island, Kingsley's own property and alleged smuggling and slave training base.

In December, 1827, a Spanish brig, the Guerrero, carrying some 400 Africans to the slave markets of Cuba, was pursued by a British gunboat and run aground on the Florida Reef,about 100 miles from Key West. A consortium of Florida wreckers rescued the Africans and the Spanish crew from the badly damaged brig and put them aboard the hold of the salvaging vessel.

Two of these were quickly over-powered by the Spaniards who carried the larger part of the Africans off to Cuba. The third vessel with 121 Africans aboard made its way safely to Key West.*

Although "complacency" toward slave importation may have been the prevailing social attitude in the southern states and Florida territory at the time, it was not that of the United States government. Legislation prohibiting citizens and residents from engaging in the foreign slave trade had been enacted as early as 1794 and subsequent Acts against the traffic had broadened and defined the prohibitions. Among these, in 1822 the importation of slaves into Florida was out- lawed. An Act of March 3, 1819 was quite specific about Negroes "captured" on board slave ships taken by American armed vessels: they were to be delivered to United States Marshalls and sent back to Africa.

A United States employee of that time, even in a place as far removed from Washington as the Territory of Florida, was in no position to be complacent about Federal statutes if he valued his job. The ubiquity of unsolicited letters in agency records, denouncing the actions and attitudes pointed officials and suggesting more worthy replacements indicates the kind of scrutiny and competition to which appointees were subjected locally, regardless of what the prevailing social attitude toward government might be.

William Pinkney was the United States Treasury Revenue Collector at Key West in 1827 and he appears to have valued the appointment. He immediately notified the Secretary of the Treasury about the arrival of the Africans at the port. Despite the protest of the British gunboat's commander, who considered the Guerrero and its contents his prize, and the fact that the slave ship had not been captured by an armed American vessel, Pinkney apparently thought it safer to interpret the 1819 Act broadly. He impounded the Africans and they were. turned over to Waters Smith, Marshall of East Florida, who came from St. Augustine to take charge of them.

Smith found the Africans, all men and boys, naked, weak and enfeebled by the voyage from Africa and many sick with dysentery and opthalmia, as an eye disease common to slave transport was then called. In spite of the miserable condition in which they were, bribes and force had been employed in attempts to commandeer the Africans for sale. Smith when he arrived at Key West, had to call on Captain Doane of the revenue cutter Marion to help him protect the Africans and convoy the chartered ship which removed them to St. Augustine.*

Aside from the expense of chartering a ship, Smith was compelled by simple humanity to give the Africans immediate medical care and clothing as well as their daily subsistence. He spent some $3,000 of his own money on these. Naturally, he expected to be reimbursed by the government. Communication was slow in those days however, and the circumstance under which the Africans were taken was complicated. It involved possible British, Spanish and Cuban claims as well as those of the Florida wreckers.

Decisions about the situation were taking months but in the meantime the Africans had to eat every day.***

The Secretary of the Navy advised Smith to hire out the Africans on bond for their own protection and upkeep, and as compensation for previous expenses.

And thus it is now told that Kingsley's 350 transported Africans were recaptured by the government and complacently returned to his care. This is a "whisper" that had a remark- able transformation.

The War of 1812 had made it clear that adequate transportation and communication between and within the states was essential for the protection of the new republic, as well as for its economic well-being and development. Navigable waterways that connected important areas of trade and manufacture without exposing shipments to the hazards of the open sea and foreign depredations became a matter of importance to Federal legislators and coastal communities. Responsible persons were pressing for development of the intra-coastal waterways of the eastern seaboard.

Only Mr. Kingsley offered to do the work "agreeably" to Gadsden's-advertisement for $13.500.

Kingsley's proposal was received and accepted in January,1829; he was ready to commence work the first of April; in July, he was employing a large force. A year later, in July, 1839, the work was completed and Gadsden reported his accounts closed in his contract with Mr. Kingsley.

Early in August, 1829, Smith, at the direction of the Secretary of the Navy,- recalled the Africans for their transport to Africa. Initially Kingsley was completely agreeable and arrangements were made for the delivery of the men in his hire. According to Smith, however, Kingsley was influenced
by "a few persons in St. Augustine" who convinced him that there was "no law authorizing the Secretary of the Navy or the President of the United States to order the Africans to be sent out of Florida; that they were free men and could not be sent to Africa contrary to their wishes."

Zephania Kingsly had taken one of these slaves an African princess named Anna Madgigine Jai Kingsley, at an early age, she survived the Middle Passage and dehumanizing slave markets to become the property of Kingsley. After manumission by her husband, Anna became a landowner and slaveholder. She raised her four children while managing a plantation that utilized African slave labor and they were treated so well that they were now considered family and did not wish to leave when offered their freedom, but that will have to be the subject of another story in the fascinating life of Zephanias Kingsly

Slave running continued until the late 1860's where the Navy routinely rescued Africans offshore and brought them to Key West . The U.S Steamship Mohawk,Wyandott and Crusader rescued 507 from the vessel Wildfire, some 513 were rescued from the William, and 417 from the Bogota, the human cargo was unloaded at Higss Beach where many of them died and were buried in unmarked graves where West Martello Tower now stands. The government rounded the Africans up and sent then to Liberia, West Africa, a country founded by former American slaves, unfortunately many died on the ships before reaching Liberia and this will always stand as a monument of man's inhumanity to man.

What Is It About Dolphins?

Researchers have found, for example, that dolphin-assisted therapy aids in reducing stress and increasing relaxation, alleviating depression, boosting production of infection fighting T-cells, stimulating production of endorphins and hormones, enhancing recovery, and reducing pain.
One of the more popular theories is that the dolphin's use of sonar and echolocation produces changes in a person's body tissue and cell structure. Similar to the effect of music therapy, some researchers have suggested that the sounds dolphins emit through their whistles and clicks help produce these changes. Indeed, some individuals swimming with dolphins have reported actually sensing that they were being scanned.

They say the echolocation resonated in their bones as they felt it pass through their bodies, producing a tingling sensation.

Another theory is that dolphins are uniquely sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities and seek to help them through playful expressions of concern. This is sometimes referred to as a "secret language" shared when dolphins and people with disabilities "communicate." Dr. Smith goes so far as to suggest that dolphins communicate acoustically with a variety of movements and attend to the body cues of individuals; in particular, individuals with autism, thereby seemingly understanding their thoughts and actions.

Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia , and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world’s nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. THEN EVERY YEAR THERE AFTER IT’ll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France .

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, ‘darn tootin’.

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America . It is time to eliminate homelessness in America . To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you and we won’t forget.

DCF Investigating Case Involving Baby That May Not Exist

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- The State Department of Children and Families is spending time and money trying to rescue a baby who probably doesn't exist. It's a strange case involving a Brevard County couple who DCF says is too dangerous to have children.

DCF apparently received a call to their hotline. They maintain they have an obligation to see if there is a child at the house that might be in jeopardy. The question is whether there is or isn't a baby.

DCF acknowledges that this baby maybe didn't exist , but had the baby existed and had he been abused thy would have to investigate.

55 Year Old Woman Burned to Death in Florida

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Someone burned a woman alive outside her home near Bithlo early Friday morning, but deputies don't even know if it was a crime. The victim died in the hospital Friday afternoon after she was burned on Marsh Creek Lane.
"'Help me! Help me! I'm burning! I'm gonna die,'" Marta said Ratcliff was screaming. Marta brought out a blanket to cover up Ratcliff, but said her neighbor of several years was almost unrecognizable.
"'Help me! Help me! I'm burning! I'm gonna die,'" Marta said Ratcliff was screaming.

Marta brought out a blanket to cover up Ratcliff, but said her neighbor of several years was almost unrecognizable.

Authorities initially thought two suspects dragged the woman from her home and set her on fire, but after questioning one person of interest for hours, they let him go and mysteriously announced they were no longer treating the case as a homicide.

"I'm speechless now," Marta said after hearing it wasn't being considered a homicide, but she said she could never imagine Ratcliff hurting herself on purpose.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office is now only calling the incident a death investigation. No one will elaborate beyond that...

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a reported incident of child abuse in which a little girl’s buttocks were burned. Deputy Michael Carr reported he was notified of the incident on March 17 by the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida. The victim reportedly had two open wounds on each side of her buttocks.

“According to the Department of Children and Families protective investigator Jean Balmir, the mother of the child did not know how the injuries occurred,” Carr reported. “The victim was examined by medical staff at the Children’s Advocacy Center.”

DAYTONA BEACH -- The mother of twin girls trapped in an apartment fire -- one who died and the other who was severely burned -- is forbidden by the state from seeing her three surviving children, officials and family members said Monday.

The restriction, which began days after the March 16 fire, prevented Robin Cain from saying goodbye to her 4-year-old daughter, Kathryn Cain, before the child was flown to The Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati a week ago.

"The Department of Children & Families said she can't see them or talk to them," said the children's father, Robert Cain, from Kathryn's bedside at Shriner's on Monday.

DCF local administrator Reggie Williams confirmed that a no-contact order was filed against Robin Cain. The 38-year-old is not allowed to visit or speak to Kathryn and Chase Cain and her older daughter Sheyenne Lundgren, 16.

Kathryn, her twin sister, Krystal, and 5-year-old Chase were staying at Robin Cain's apartment when flames broke out after 11 p.m. in the bedroom the three children were sharing, state fire officials said.

Robin Cain, Lundgren and the teen's unidentified boyfriend also were in the apartment when the fire erupted. The two adults and Lundgren ran out of the burning three-bedroom unit. But the three children were left behind, fire officials said.

A neighbor ran into the smoke-filled apartment and rescued Chase; Daytona Beach firefighters saved Kathryn, who was still in the bedroom.

But the thick smoke and racing flames would not allow firefighters to find Krystal, who had apparently hidden in a closet.

The little girl died of smoke inhalation.

The surviving twin underwent skin-graft surgery at Shriners and is recovering from the burns that covered the front portion of her body, Robert Cain said Monday.

The 31-year-old father said the no-contact order was filed by DCF officials in light of what happened the night of the fire and "other things that have been going on."

Robin Cain, reached for the first time since the fire, said Monday that her attorney had advised her not to speak to the media.

However, court documents show Robert Cain gained temporary custody of the twin girls in January, after he told a judge that his estranged wife locked the children in their bedroom.

The father, in court documents, also said Robin Cain is an alcoholic, something the daughter, Lundgren, said two weeks ago. The teenager said her mother had locked the youngsters in their bedroom because they often woke up in the middle of the night and wandered the apartment. Lundgren, who is staying with a family friend, also said her mother would place a potty in the bedroom for all three children while they were confined.

The children were not locked in the night of the fire, and her mother may have fallen asleep in the bathroom when it started, the older sister said.

State fire officials have said the fire originated in the children's bedroom, but the cause is still unknown.

Muslims more numerous than Catholics: Vatican Reuters hat Atlas Shrugs

Islam has overtaken Roman Catholicism as the biggest single religious denomination in the world, the Vatican said on Sunday.

Monsignor Vittorio Formenti, who compiled the Vatican's newly-released 2008 yearbook of statistics, said Muslims made up 19.2 percent of the world's population and Catholics 17.4 percent.

"For the first time in history we are no longer at the top: the Muslims have overtaken us," Formenti told Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano in an interview, saying the data referred to 2006.

He said that if all Christian groups were considered, including Orthodox churches, Anglicans and Protestants, then Christians made up 33 percent of the world's population -- or about 2 billion people.

The Vatican recently put the number of Catholics in the world at 1.13 billion people. It did not provide a figure for Muslims, generally estimated at around 1.3 billion.

Formenti said that while the number of Catholics as a proportion of the world's population was fairly stable, the percentage of Muslims was growing because of higher birth rates.

He said the data on Muslim populations had been compiled by individual countries and then released by the United Nations, adding the Vatican could only vouch for its own statistics.

Mediating Elder-Care Disputes.

It's hard enough for families to navigate the complicated and emotionally charged decisions related to elder care when everyone gets along.
Throw in a family with tensions or outright hostility and it's no wonder that disagreements sometimes end up in court, an expensive proposition that can easily magnify divisions. Another way to handle these problems is growing in popularity: mediation.

A mediator is sometimes brought in at the order of a judge seeking to settle a dispute without taking it to a jury. But elder-care practitioners are urging more families to take the step voluntarily, especially in disputes over how to handle guardianship for family members who can no longer care for themselves.

Mark Dennen's family was embroiled in nearly two years of litigation centering around guardianship for his father, then 92 years old, when a judge ordered the case sent to mediation.

"Everybody brings in all this emotional baggage and the mediator helps bring things into focus," Mr. Dennen says. "It's designed to get to a solution." The mediation brought the legal battle to an end just months before Mr. Dennen's father passed way.

Agreement Is the Aim -
The basic idea behind mediation is that a dispute is resolved through an agreement among the parties, instead of a resolution mandated by a judge or negotiated by attorneys. The role of the mediator -- usually an attorney or someone with a background in social work -- is to facilitate communication and informed decision making.

The cost of mediation varies around the country. In big metropolitan areas, it can easily cost $300 to $500 an hour, although it's possible to find dispute resolution centers that are significantly less expensive.

Robert Rhudy, a former legal-aid attorney turned mediator, has championed the use of the practice to resolve elder-care disputes in Maryland. "In mediation, everybody who is affected by the situation has an opportunity, in a neutral and confidential setting, to tell their story," he says. Whenever possible, that includes the elderly family member.

Defusing Tensions -
The mediator can help ease communications among family members for whom the elder-care dispute may reopen decades-old wounds.
"Things like 'Mom always liked you better' and brothers and sisters who haven't gotten along since they were three years old come to the fore," says Mr. Rhudy.

Common candidates for mediation are disagreements between family members who live far away and a sibling who lives closer to the elder and may have a different assessment of that person's needs.
Sometimes the disputes are between children and elderly family members who have their own view of where they should be living and who should be caring for them.

Mediation can be used to settle disagreements over living arrangements, how finances should be handled, who should be granted power of attorney, and even visitation rights among squabbling siblings. Agreements often specify the kinds of information, especially financial and medical updates, that will be provided to family members who live far away.

The personal nature of these disputes is what makes mediation helpful, says Forrest Mosten, a Los Angeles attorney who has been a mediator for nearly three decades. "The remedies that a court offers are very limited...but in mediation, an apology may end the dispute."

Mediation also allows for informal or even interim solutions, Mr. Mosten says. "You can try things out and see how they work," he says. For example, instead of immediately pursuing a formal guardianship, one child could become a co-signer on a bank account. "If that works, then you don't have to go any further."

There are some times when mediation alone isn't sufficient, says Nina Weiss, an attorney and mediator in Princeton, N.J. If a guardianship is in order, for instance, that must be ordered by the court system.

The mediation process for elder-care decisions can -- and most say, should -- bring in experts such as social workers, estate-planning specialists and health-care professionals who would typically be called upon as part of a court case. "The courts will recognize the same issues....It's just that you avoid the expense" of litigation, says Joseph Mahon, an estate-planning attorney in New Jersey (who isn't also a mediator).

Finding a Mediator -
One challenge facing families looking for mediation help is that there is no formal licensing or credentialing for elder-care mediators, notes James Bergman, a co-director at the Center for Social Gerontology, an Ann Arbor, Mich., nonprofit group that has been a longtime advocate of elder mediation.

"Anyone can hang a shingle out and say they're an elder mediator," he says.
But there are plenty of experienced mediators, so it's largely a matter of tracking down those with experience in the area and, importantly, a mediator the parties feel comfortable with.

One place to start are local nonprofit mediation groups, such as the Montgomery County Mediation Center in Eagleville, Pa., which can generally be located online. There are also state organizations, such as the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators.

Some states have lists of mediators officially approved by their courts. And online, the Association for Conflict Resolution offers the public the ability to find mediators from among its members at acrnet.org.

Also online, Mediate.com and EldercareMediators.com offer names of mediators (who pay small fees to be listed).

He followed her around the house with a tape recorder and a camera.

She yanked on his T-shirt.

He placed light bulbs underneath sofa pillows.

A lot of our most vocal liberal media and spokepersons think that it is great that the United States in the name of multiculturalism is embracing and protecting the practice of other cultures while the Elder Abuse Protection Laws Languish in Congress and Elder Abuse reaches Epidemic Proportions.

A Muslim man is permitted to have up to four spouses.The average recipient with a child can receive about $1,500 monthly, city officials said.

"This is a law and there's nothing wrong with it.""Canada is a very liberal-minded country," Ali said. "Canada is way ahead of Britain in this respect."He said Britain recently began permitting husbands to collect benefits for each of their wives and we wondered ? The Unites States is a very liberal country what is happening here? We wondered and did a little research.

Myra Morton approached her sleeping husband on the morning of August 5, 2007, with pain in her heart and a gun in her hand. Once the smoke had cleared at the couple’s upscale home just outside Philadelphia, a man would lie dead, a family secret would be exposed, and a spotlight would shine on the emergent phenomenon of Islamic polygamy in the Western world.

Just like the government looks the other way with Elder Abuse Cases, Cases like Dr. Vernon Sinn, Dr. Robert Sarhan, Dr. A.J. Fernandez or his wife Clara G. Fernandez and too many to mention all here , as recent evidence indicates that the people in charge tend to look the other way as the conjugal mores of seventh-century Arabia — and the problems that travel with them — take root in our backyards as well.

The prevalence of polygamy among Muslims living in the West remains a matter of debate. Here is a sampling of what has been reported: As many as thirty thousand Muslim families in France include more than one wife. There are fifteen thousand in Italy and several thousand in Great Britain. Estimates for the United States typically run into the tens of thousands. Even Australia has been forced to crack down on Muslim men looking to meet potential second wives via the internet.

Individual cases often come to light unexpectedly through high-impact media events such as the Morton saga. Another example is the tragic Bronx house fire that killed ten people on March 7, 2007. Moussa Magassa, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Mali who lost five of his children in the blaze, was discovered to have two wives living a floor apart. A subsequent investigation by the New York Times found polygamy to be an open secret in his immigrant community, with agencies that serve it adhering to a policy of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Concern about Islamic polygamy has naturally been dismissed in some quarters as cultural imperialism. Duke University professor Miriam Cooke argues that “polygamy can be liberating and empowering.” As Kay Hymowitz explains in City Journal.

Many find the introduction of polygamy to be a liberating step forward in the civil rights movement parallelled only and a natural progression to the legalization of same sex marriages in many states.

The mixed message sent by government bureaucrats regarding this practice in indicative of multicultural nonchalance.

The push to normalize polygamy along with the victimization of elders and the removal of their civil rights when they become incapacitated under the guise of "protection" is another step closer toward the long slippery slope that we are so blissfully steaming head on with wanton disregard.

Judge to Lawyer: "Get a Shovel, Get Job"!

AUBURN, Maine — A former lawyer convicted of stealing from clients has been told by a judge to get a job, even if it means shoveling snow off roofs.

John Frankenfield appeared before a judge in Auburn after being accused of violating a condition of probation.

The judge told him to report back next month with a plan for paying back $219,000 in court-ordered restitution.

So far, Frankenfield has paid back just $50.

Justice Thomas Delahanty II took Frankenfield to task Wednesday.

Delahanty told him to get a job and noted "there are a lot of roofs out there to be shoveled."!

Frankenfield served about two years in prison after being convicted of skimming assets from his grandfather's estate.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing $55,000 from clients.
